Our Future

It is the long-term goal of Manassas Ballet Theatre to become a nationally recognized regional ballet company.

With the 2010 opening of the Hylton Performing Arts Center at the Manassas/PWC campus of George Mason University, MBT took a major step towards fulfilling this goal. MBT is the resident ballet company and largest tenant in this world-class facility. Moving our productions into the HPAC has served to increase the awareness and image of MBT in the larger community. This ties directly to MBT’s plans to expand our service area to include all of Northern Virginia. A third of the audiences at our recent Nutcracker production were from outside Manassas and Prince William County.

In meeting our long-range goal, MBT must continue to improve the artistic experience we provide and to evolve our organization. That means:

  • Always striving to improve the caliber of dancers and choreography.
  • Growing the Company to a corps of 24 dancers.
  • Replacing our scenery with sets scaled to fit the HPAC.
  • Developing an infrastructure that will ensure the continuity of MBT into the future.
  • Improving the benefits we provide our dancers.
  • Increasing the quality and quantity of our marketing activities.
  • Begin touring outside the immediate area to build recognition of MBT.
  • Expand our Educational Outreach program into Fairfax, Fauquier and Loudoun counties

As a part of the process of meeting our long-range goal, MBT has identified the need to expand its administrative and rehearsal space. We are adding space to our current facility as an interim step in this process. Ultimately, it is our plan to build a new facility in the Manassas Arts and Entertainment district.
